UPDATE 1: I am not gonna make a Journal of what Bowser's Inside Story should improve because my friend already made and it's most of what I wanted anyways. You should check it out. Thanks to :iconiwatchcartoons715:
Mario + Luigi RPG 3 (BiS) Remake ImprovementsBefore I say anything else, I want to give a lot of credit to :iconKoopshiKingGeoshi: He gave me a lot of ideas for this, made sprites for this that I will show later in the journal and I'm pretty much writing the same journal he already wrote since he wrote a Partners in Time version.  I also want to thank :iconStarJaws14: because she also inspired me to write this.
So as a lot of you should know, Mario & Luigi: Superstar saga is getting a remake for the 3ds and will probably be improved in a lot of ways. If for whatever reason Alphadream couldn't make anymore new instalments in the series, remaking the previous ones would be a great idea. Don't get me wrong, I love Bowser's Inside Story but I'm coming up with suggestions that can make it better. Of course there are petpeeves that I have with the game but for the most part I'll only talk about improvements that most people would agree with.
1. A lot of Bowser's Inside Story's gameplay takes advantage

UPDATE 2: I added two more sections of ideas on what the Partners In Time remake needs to improve, be sure to check them out, it will be worth reading them. I also updated the Save album idea in section #19.

UPDATE 3: So today Gamexplain just revealed an Easter Egg in Bowser's Minions for the MLSS Remake and E Gadd was talking about building a time machine, which is what he did in the sequel Partners In Time! Something fishy sure is going on that? Could Alpha Dream and Nintendo be foreshadowing a future Partners In Time Remake (DX)? If so, either for the Switch or a new handheld could possibly work. The 3DS has like three Mario & Luigi games so we don't need like 4 on the same system. I also added 3 more sections.

So we finally got a remake of Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga so I have a new ideas what they can add and fix in the next future remake. Mario & Luigi Partners In Time is my favorite Mario & Luigi game and it's the darkest Mario game in general as well which is why I enjoyed it the story was very intense. Now the graphics will unlikely be Dream Team this time since it may appear on a new handheld device so Alpha Dream may likely change the style for that possibly based on there newer Mario & Luigi sequels. Below is a list of ideas whenever they update partners In Time the game could use a remake as well.

  1. These are my #1 issue in the game that need to improve when a remake is made. The HP of all enemies and bosses need to be cut down a bit to match Japan or North Americans stats and vice versa. The US releases gave the enemies and bosses too much HP, POW, Defense and other stats. It kinda took too long to battle some of the early bosses mainly even when I was let's say leveled up about 7. So in honesty depending on the region some of the stats for all the enemies and bosses are rather unbalanced depending on how far you are in the game as well as in general. Not to mention some of the HP such as Baby Bowser sometimes use mushrooms to heal himself or Bowser. In the North American version, they restore 100 HP (which is quite a lot of HP to restore). While in the Japanese version, they only restore 60 HP which seems a bit more balanced since they have a lot of HP to begin with. not to mention One of Shroobsworths attacks consists of him and Intern Shroob throwing a purple meteor. The meteor flies through the air slower in the Japanese version. While in the North American version it goes very fast and they are very difficult to avoid and time even the Shroobsworths have a ton of Attack POW so it can be super difficult which could use some tweaking.

Another pet peeve in the game I have is in the North American release some items are quite expensive to buy compared to Japans including Stache discounts and it was even harder for me to buy items when I spend some of my coins that I need and they run out quite easily making decisions to buy items are rather too stressing to choose even spent wisely and when i have to fight enemies and after a while they won't give out as much mainly to the early enemies percentage they give coins and later enemies would be too tough to fight as well though they give you more percentage of coins since there not fought as much.

It was a bit hard to explain this but I have really tried to explain it the best I can. Here are the difference of calculations of Stats and Prices between North American and other regions. It's not that I want the game to be more easier and RPGs are meant to be a challenge but the stats in the original game are rather unbalanced for some of the stuff between regions. Once they remake the game i hope they can improve the general balance in the game.

  2. Baby Mario and Baby Luigi will now have there new design from there adult counterparts, starting Dream Team gave them let's say there Red & Green letter emblems on there caps instead of them being black. But in the same color shade of the original game like what Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions did in there artwork.
  3. Rename the "Bros. Flower" to the proper Fire Flower I never figured out why they renamed that iconic flower to that? I get it's a Bros. Attack but it has a real name and still acts pretty much the same! Also this time like the newer Mario & Luigi games change the Bros. clothes to there fire forms (Same if they get a Mix Flower) even to the babies (which would be the first game they would gain the fire form to themselves) as well since the player can also attack flying enemies by pressing the X button (if passed to Mario) or the Y button (if passed to Luigi), making their baby counterparts shoot fireballs.
  4. The Ice Flower needs some contrast color fixing in it's design and to be based off of it's modern appearance and this time give the Bros. and Baby Bros (Again the Baby Bros. for the first time they get the Ice form as well) there modern Ice forms based on New Super Mario Bros. Wii as well, along with the "blue fireballs" to be the actual Iceballs.
I also would love the Ice Flower to return in a future Mario & Luigi game as well still downgrading the enemies and bosses POW and Defense down or maybe a chance they will get frozen. The Ice Flower was supposed to be in Mario & Luigi Dream Team but was scrapped and left in the games files. Since Luigi owns the Fire Flower it seems Mario may of owned as his own Bros. Attack though I think it should be the other way around since Mario is usually associated with fire and Luigi is usually with other elements like Thunder and Ice. www.mariowiki.com/List_of_Mari…
  5. Have the "actual" Bros. Points. They allow the Bros. to use Bros. Ite- *cough* Attacks without losing them anymore which was an issue in the original game, even then you won't have enough of a chance to kill dangerous enemies when you lose them and run out easily anyways besides Bros. Points, which would of made things better instead since you can carry the Bros. Attacks with you all the time and simply have to pay for Bros. Points. So yes have the Syrup Jars back (Original, Super, Ultra, and Max) instead of going all the way back to a shop to get some more of them being treated like another pointless category of items :P it's a waste of time (no pun intended xD) plus they were very expensive in the US version which was another problem, Japan made them a bit fair with the pricing with the US releases price, quite unbalanced I say. Like all of the other Mario & Luigi games. It wouldn't change the gameplay as much but it would be more improved. That was my second biggest issue in the original game. Oddly when fighting the bosses in the game you get infinite Bros. Items? I find that very strange and yet they only get wasted in normal boss fights, yeah we need them like normal Bros Attacks. But i thought that you can still buy the Bros Attacks and then you can keep them forever and never have to buy them again as more new Bros Attacks will come though out the game by each Time Hole you beat. So now the Bros Attacks relies on BPs.
  6. Nuts should be added instead of those unoriginal yellow "Mushroom Drops" Just to be consistent like other Mario & Luigi games. I found the nuts more creative and to make sense (think of it like you have a jar of nuts as well) then generic recolor yellow mushrooms :P
  7. Hard Mode is available along with a Sound Test like in Paper Jam. This appears after you beat the game.
  8. Characters having there modern appearance such as Baby Peach's design. Difference: Original to Modern (Except for the eyes being still black like most Mario & Luigi characters)
  9. Have the "Emergency Guard" from Paper Jam and the upcoming M&LSS remake.
  10. Remastered music and brand new graphics this time no longer reusing the Dream Team graphics.
  11. Amiibo support (if they continue them but still could)
  12. A new story mode similar to the upcoming M&LSS remake "Bowser's Minions".
  13. Updated controls and animations.
  14. Correct me if i am wrong but all the Yoshi colors (besides Purple and Orange) from Yoshi's Story were in the game. But wasn't there a White Yoshi in the game? This sprite sheet here shows a White Yoshi unless it was either a fans own custom palette for the sheet, Unused in the games files or very rarely appeared in the game let me know in the comments below if the White Yoshi's did or not appear. If White Yoshi doesn't then they may as well add that color in and replace or add one of the Yoshi residence in Yoshi's Island with a White one. Black Yoshi is only present in the North American version of the game, with a Yellow Yoshi taking his place in the other regional releases. I don't really want Black Yoshi replaced like in the Japanese version of the original game during Sunnycide's Battle unlike Japans. Since he was the only Black Yoshi entirely in the game, Unless they replace or add another Black Yoshi resident.

  15. A problem with the original game was the standard jumping and hammer with both the adults and the babies. I thought they were too difficult for standard attacks. I sometimes get confused as to when to press A and X in which order because it was so quick and then the hammer switches it and because it's such quick reactions, I get myself confused. I hope the new upcoming console will fix those problems. But overall it didn't stop me from playing the game still just needs improvements though.
  16. Make tutorials skippable. This should be something in every future Mario & Luigi game because even the most die hard fans of that series can agree that the weakest part of the games are the long, unskippable tutorials.
  17. Similarly, give players the ability to fast forward cutscenes like in Paper Jam and the Superstar Saga remake.
  18. Like in Paper Jam and in Dream Team you can save the game at any point. No Save Albums. (except only add them before going near towards cutscenes and before boss fights so players don't forget to save before those events happen, just like in M&L:SS +BM's)
  19. Once again have the option to practice attacks outside battle.
  20. Some people struggle more with dodging than attacking so a new feature that can be included in the demo/practice screen is dodging and counterattacking. To make bosses still difficult, the dodging and counterattacking is fairly slow and easy on these screens.
  21. Give the players the option to retry a battle anyway like in Dream Team and Paper Jam (even give players the option to retry fights with more power in case they're struggling too much with a fight).
  22. A Special Warp Pipe item to take you back to the Present Peach's Castle. I hated how when i lose my items i have to get into trouble by trying to get away from enemies chasing me just to go all the way back to Peach's Castle in the present. This is similar to the Return Pipe from Super Paper Mario.
  23. Shroob Rex is probably the biggest enemy problem I have, when it comes to fighting them. If he is not squished enough it's impossible to jump on him on the right time or over him at all, when they charge into you. I understand it's for puzzle reasons and they want you to jump on him first but, in Shroob Castle there is already enough annoyance with powerful enemies on there side like the Soul Bubbles Attacking you and there even more annoying to kill as it is. But I think you should be able to use your Hammer to counter it on the right time if they are not squished enough like that is impossible to dodge on and it breaks the rules with M&L games is that there should be a way dodge or counter them. The hammer counter still takes timing but it's better then being so helplessly attacked.
  24. Mario & Luigi use Staches and Bowser uses Horns in Bowser's Inside Story. Baby Mario & Baby Luigi oddly have Staches despite not having a mustache at all just because they are young, which was really an odd choice but I guess they couldn't decide what would go well. (I guess it only makes sense when they become adults).
I think they should have "Caps" instead (I thought of a diaper but i feel like that would be an odd choice). There is no gear that involves caps and the Baby Mario Bros. are born with the caps in the Yoshi's Island games. Not to mention the caps are another iconic thing about the bros similar to the mustaches.
  25. The Copy Flower could be replaced by the Double Cherry? I wouldn't really care which one they would choose. The Copy Flower spawns a lot of clones of the four heroes, I find it to sorta not make sense but since you are using your feet to attack, but flowers usually spawn something under your feet, I feel like the Double Cherry would sorta make more sense to use, even though in Super Mario 3D World they spawn one at a time when you collect one, but Mario & Luigi games are different so that could change. I can't see the other items completely changing otherwise.
  26. Recovery Block should always be with a Save Album so you can recover your Health and Bros Attacks. They were rare in the original game. There is one in Princess Peach's Castle in the present, one inside of the monstrous Yoob, and one just before the throne room of Shroob Castle. Which is a problem and if you wanted to recover so badly you have to backtrack all the way to Peach's Castle even if you run out of items.
  27. Make the Elder Princess Shroob's final form a 3D model!
  28. Have the Mario Bros have there own Bros Attacks by half.
Mario/Baby Mario can have    Luigi/Baby Luigi can have
    Fire Flower                                                                Ice Flower
    Canonballer                                 Copy Flower/Double Cherry
    Mix Flower                                   Green Shell
Red Shell                                     Pocket Chomp (You could say that is a Double Dash references haha)
    Smash Egg                                  Trampoline
  29. The EXP Flagpoles now appear showing how much EXP points you need to level up. Baby Mario and Baby Luigi would likely get there emblems from Mario Kart 8/ Deluxe on there flagpoles.
  30. Add the Boo Biscuit as an Item (good for practicing and it actually appeared in the MLSS remake)

As a person who loves Partners in Time, here's my opinion about it.

1.- I disagree, because the Bros. Items can help since some of them can go forever when using them (as if you were playing an endless mode). So I'm sure that mastering the Bros. Items solve the high HP enemies/bosses problem.

2, 8 & 14.- I not sure what to think about how to design some characters.

3.- I rather the Bros. Flower to keep its name, because of the detail that the bros (adults & babies) don't change their clothes to their fire forms. Although I really don't care too much about it.

4.- The same thing than the previous one. I don't find really necessary to let the bros (adults & babies) to change their clothes when using the Ice Flower.

5.- I absolutely disagree with this one. It's not like I hate the Bros. Points system, but it only fits on Superstar Saga if you ask me (since in that game, the Bros. Attack are not about using items like in the subsequent games). Having the Bros. Items to be actual items (instead of depending of the BP) made it more original. Gameplay wise, losing them anymore is only a issue for those who don't master them, since some of them can go forever when using them well. Also, there are multiple forms of getting Bros. Items aside from going to shops like exploring the map, beating enemies (I know some of them has too much HP but it shouldn't take forever to beat them). And there are even badges that make the Bros. Items endless when using them, but with a price or under any circustance.

Not very important note: If I had to mention a personal issue I have with the Bros. Points is the fact of wasting one turn to recover some of them. It's not really huge in Superstar Saga (since using them on difficult 3 the prices go down and the syrups are really useful), but in Bowser's Inside Story the syrups are almost useless [since the normal restores 10, the Super restores 20, the Ultra restores 30, and the Max Syrups restores 40 (Really? Just 40? When the prices are a bit higher?)]

6.- It's not Partners in Time's fault for being inconsistent. Also, the Nuts only healed one Mario & one Luigi, so I don't really care about the consistency due to that minor detail.

7.- Even if I disagree with lowering the enemies & bosses' HP, I agree with the idea of adding a Hard Mode and a Sound Test.

9.- Hello? The Emergency Guard used the X button in both Paper Jam & Superstar Saga remake, and Partners in Time defined the X button as Baby Mario's button.

12.- Why would I disagree? Although I would like that mode to take place in the present. I mean, it could reveal interesting details that might or not be related with the original story (like people speculating or remembering what happened years ago).

13.- Updated controls? How exactly? I mean, I got used without too many problems to the game's original controls.

15.- Did you forgot the tutorial with the Hammer Bros.? When jumping they said press X/Y first (you can press A/B if you want, but you'll only jump once), and then A/B, and when using the hammer they said press A/B first (press X/Y if you want but you'll do less damage), and then X/Y. I mean, I found it kinda weird at first but then I got used to it. The only difference could be trying to merge this jumping system with BIS' (if Nintendo decides to update it).

16 - 20.- Nothing to say. I just agree

21.- For this option, I would rather adding the Retry Clocks from Bowser's Inside Story.

22.- Wouldn't be more convenient if that Special Warp Pipe item just takes you to the Time Holes?

23.- I rather the Bros. (both) to be allowed to choose between jumping and using the hammer (like Bowser in BIS), and when using the babies alone, the defense metod is automaticly selected (or change it with the L or R buttons)

24.- The staches & horns are part of Mario, Luigi & Bowser, so I really imagine they couldn't decide what would go well.

25.- I rather the Copy Flower to remain in the game. It would just feel weird to just changing an item with another item, even if they are identical to one another.

26.- I rather the Recovery Blocks to be just with some of the Save Albums (like near the boss rooms). Having them in every Save Album would just make them overpowered.

27 & 30.- Unsure

28.- I don't really like the idea, even if they were present in Dream Team, they worked way better in Superstar Saga.

29.- Those EXP Flagpoles became the standard EXP screen since BIS. I would rather implementing EXP bars for each bro personally.

I would like the remake the remake to have X versions of some of the bosses (like in BIS or Dream Team) and Bros. Items challenges.
